i definitely perfer Bleach's form of shinigami. they are just so much cooler and best of all, they aren't some freak looking being lol. however, i do find Death Note's shinigamis to be quite interesting too, but their existence and powers are too supernatural. one thing i noticed is that they don't carry some kind of weapon, usually like a sickle. they hardly ever get involve anyway, more like they're just manipulating the death note owner to some extent. i still watch both of the show though.

one way of becoming a soul reaper is through the academy in soul society, but you have to be dead lol. the other way, i'm guessing is if you carry the bloodline which in this case is Ichigo. yes, this will include Yuzu and Karin as well, they have the potential to become soul reapers. there's no reason why they can't unless they're still too young. anyway i'm sure they hold that possiblity.

as far as reproduction goes in soul society, there's no proof of that. families are formed in an awkward way there. if you are lucky you might find your loved ones that pasted away there.
